The Washington Commanders have released 2023 first round draft pick Emmanuel Forbes. He was picked up by the Los Angeles Rams once he cleared waivers, but for his time in Washington, he was not a good fit in the Jack Del Rio's defense and when Joe Whitt Jr. became defensive coordinator, Forbes could not find his groove and what was expected from corners in the Washington defensive scheme.

Forbes was chosen because of his ability to be a ball hawk where he had 6 interceptions in a single season, which Ron Riviera loved to promote. Commanders fans have seen that story one too many times.
I had a 2nd round grade on Forbes for 2 reasons: His weight was not sufficient enough to handle the physicality of the NFL game, and he did not have the turn and run speed needed to handle boundary receivers. I also felt, because of his size, he should have been placed as a back safety instead of a press corner.
Ultimately, this is one of the final players of Ron Riviera's draft classes that still remain with the team. Brian Robinson Jr., being the only one left. While there was a lot of coaching being done to try and get everything out of him, Forbes just didn't have it in him to understand the weaknesses and overcome them.
This move did come prior to the announcement that Marshon Lattimore will finally take the field for the Commanders in the upcoming game up against the New Orleans Saints, where Lattimore was acquired from.
But Emmanuel Forbes Jr., has been released from the Washington Commanders ending his near 2 year venture with the club.
